IndigoBlu style Fabric Painting

Hello to you. Today I would like to share a couple of new projects I have been working on for Kay Halliwell-sutton's Hochanda show which where on today at 11am and 3pm (These links will only work for a couple of weeks from the date of this blog post)
And it's these beautiful canvas panels.

You have Elizabeth and Jane panels which measure 20cm x 20cm and the Becca panel which is 16cm x 20cm. Check here for more details

I was asked to come up with a design for two of the IndigoBlu Fabric Panels, Elizabeth and Jane and here is what I did.
 Elizabeth
Jane

Now I normally have to sit and ponder a while to have a think about what to create and was thinking about the Beautiful Elizabeth and my head took me to Pride and Prejudice. I knew I had a Embroidery Hoop somewhere in my stash so thought I could display the panel within that. Unfortunately I don't really sew let along do embroidery so out came the paints.

I started with the background first and used a sponge to dab on two colours of paint onto the dry canvas. Luscious Powders were then mixed with Fabric Slap-it-on to paint the printed images along with the skin coloured paints. More of the grasses from the 'Victorian Garden' stamp set were stamped around the outside of the panel to coordinate with the pre-printed ones. I did this to fill up the 'white' space as the printed picture was a little smaller than the hoop.

Once I had finished stamping I then mounted the fabric into the hoop and trimmed the away the excess material. I could still see lines that framed Elizabeth so I decided to add some ribbon, which I attached to the hoop frame with sticky double sided tape.

You can still see the lines a little but I felt it would be alright once I finished off with a little more paint and added more details to the border.

The details were done using Luscious Powder mixed with Fabric Stap-it-on.

With Jane I decided to mount her onto a zipped purse and instead of leaving the panel square I used my die cutting machine to cut her out into a circle.
For this sample I wanted to decorate her in a different way so used the paint and mixed up Luscious with the FSIO and used my different size scoring tools and the end of a paintbrush to create dots around the cut edge.

I then picked out a couple of the images from the panel and extended them onto the purse with stamps from the Collectors Edition Stamps using the Porelain Paint.

Most of this panel was painted with the Luscious Powders

I really enjoyed painting these panels. I found them less daunting than the larger ones which I must confess I have been worried about painting as I didnt want to spoil such a gorgeous Panel.

Here are some of the images from Kay's shows today which have really helped me feel more confident about having a go with the large panel.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog post as much as I had decorating the panels.
If you would like to purchase any of the above, Canvas Panels, Paints, Luscious Powders or Slap-it-on then please check out this link to the IndigoBlu web shop.

IndigoBlu in Bloom

Hello to you and thanks for stopping by. You may have seen that Kay Halliwell-sutton from IndigoBlu was on Hochanda today show casing her beautiful floral stamps and the fluttering birds, bees and dragonflies. If you didnt get to see her live shows then check them out on Hochanda.com. First show was at 10am with Leonie Pujol and the 2pm show with  Matt Macnamara. (These links are only good for two weeks).
Being on the TV sample making team for IndigoBlu im lucky enough to have these stamps sent to me to experiment with and I have had so much fun creating different things from cards to mixed media pieces.
Here are the samples I create for these show's, lots of fussy cutting and I also put some of my paint pours to good use.
This card was made using the 'Spring Meadow' stamp at the top of the card with a few extra butterflies cut out from the 'Nature III', sitting on one of the word plates from the stamp set 'Happiness'. The colours used on the card were from the Luscious Powder range.
I wanted to keep this card simple to show off the beautiful Orchids so stamped in black ink and used clear embossing powder to create a resist when I coloured the blooms in with Pink Luscious. Once dry I fussy cut the image, cut out some slender leaves and set everything into a little wooden flowerpot painted with the porcelain Luscious powder.

For this sample I wanted to use the Orchids again to decorate the shoes I cut out using a Sizzix die as I thought it went well with a sentiment from the 'Meadow Flowers' stamp set. 'Stroll through a meadow, breathing in the sunshine & believe in miracles'
The wooden base was painted with Black Gee-Soo-good and a layer of the IndigoBlu Watercolour card was stamped on with the flowers and herbs from the same 'Meadow Flowers' stamp set.
The shoes were kept simple, as well as the stamped images all finished off with little touches of Bisque Liquid Pearls.
I love the colours that came out on the Paint Pour I used for the background to these beautiful flowers from the stamp set 'Peony' and I used Coral and Orange Luscious Powders to give these flowers a lovely shine.
The orange was also mixed into some super slap it on which I put through the 'Scrip' stencil over the flowers to add a little texture, then cut and dry embossed so leaves and added linen thread under the flowers.
Now I really love this New Humming Bird Stencil by IndigoBlu and hope that Kay follows it up with a Hummingbird stamp. (I'm sure you will know why I love this so much)! I used this stencil in a slightly different way as I drew around the hummingbird lines. I then used a Tombow Glue Pen to add patterns. Once the glue was dry I used Tombow Brush Pens and Blender pen to add colour to the differnt sections of the bird over the glue which acted as a resist so you get a interesting patterns emerging.
I then masked off the Humminbird and using a wet wipe put some blue Gelatos through the IndigoBlu Dottie stencil and finished the card off with some green pearl dots. The sentiment was stamped and black embossed onto vellum.
For this piece I used another of my paint pour mini canvases and picked out the blue in it by painting Rice Paper with Blue Luscious, stamping about 10 of the 'Peony' heads in Stazon blue ink onto the rice paper and cutting each flower out and layering them up to create a dimensional flower.
I added the sentiment 'You are Bloomin Marvelous' from the stamp set 'Meadow Flowers'

This next piece I created was using a base from a toy that rocks and I thought it might be fun to add the 'Butterfly#2' and the 'Giant Dragonfly' on wires to make them look as if they were fluttering and hovering above the flowers. Unfortunatly the camera didnt like the shine that was coming of the painted pieces as I used the Luscious Powders again so it hasn't captured all the detail that are in the stamped images.

I stamped, coloured and cut out the Peony and leaf images from the 'Marigold and Peony' stamp set and added them around the sides and the top of the rocking base, filling the top with some paper flowers from my stash.
The Giant Dragonflies had some silver glitter added to their wings and different coloured gems were added to the bodies.

I wanted to use my Tombow Brush pens again so I stamped out the beautiful floral collage from the stamp set 'Nature III' and enjoyed colouring it in so much decided to stamp and colour in more images and turned them into a Stepper Box Card.
Each draw was decorated with parts of the images I coloured as well as single images inside each box base.

Hope you have enjoyed taking a look and some of these samples inspire you.

Be ready to be amazed!

Christmas in August

Hello everyone,
Christmas in August seems quite strange when its warm and sunny outside but when you are designing different projects to showcase New Release Stamps and products for IndigoBlu its just something you have to do. Mind you, I have had a real buzz doing this as some of my designs have been on Hochanda, fancy that, being on TV! Well not me, but my works of art! And another good thing is that I have made a start on my own Christmas Cards.
Wednesday brought Let Leonie Loose on Hochanda (this link is only good for a week as the show is on catch-up) and she was showcasing some of the New Products & Stamps from IndigoBlu and some of my samples along with others from the DT were shown so I thought I would share some photo's with you today.
If you haven't seen any of the New stamps and products yet, you really must take a look as they are FAB, especially the Luscious powders.
I have loved using the Luscious powder so much as its so versatile that I have put a Video together showing you some techniques. (Hoping to add it it YouTube later today after doing a bit of editing)!

I'm hoping that after you have seen these projects they will inspire you to start your Christmas Crafting.
Have fun,
Sue xx
This canvas was made to look like a wrapped present. This Stamp set is beautiful and is called Winterland Wood.
I also created a matching tag
I stamped a sentiment onto the ribbon
This card was made using the Country House Stamp. I cut the doors and masked certain part of the stamp details off so that I could make a secret garden.
I opened up the door and stamped the Deer Images in the "secret Garden"

For this shaker card I used the Mother & Child Stamp
The images was embossed in Gold embossing powder

The next two cards were made using images from the stamp set "Peace on Earth"
This card was made from acetate and the Angel image was stamped and coloured onto card and cut out and attached to a silver card die cut.
This was a fun card to make using the Christmas puddings. The images were stamped straight onto the card and an extra one stamped on another piece of white card, coloured, cut out and mounted on foam pads. Do you like the little coin popping out of the pudding?
I found some small wooded spoons so give this one the Mega Flake treatment.

And last but not least, I put together a Christmas house using all the New Christmas stamps I have ATM!

The house was first given a coat of White Gee-Soo-Good then once dry painted with Goldfinger paint. Once dry I used the New Super Thick,  Slap it on through a couple of stencils on the roof and outside walls.

Unicorn Sparkles was added aound and inside the house.
