IndigoBlu October Blog Challenge- Monochrome

Hello Everyone, are you ready to challenge your crafting skills, need a little inspiration?
Today is the start of a Brand New Challenge over at IndigoBlu - Monochrome!

I knew what monochrome was but wanted to find out the correct definition so googled it and this is what came up!
Monochrome:- A photograph or picture developed or executed in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour.
So for this post I decided I would use Black & White, only because I don't normally craft in these colours and wanted to challenge myself. For the reminder post of this challenge later in the month I will  be using a colour.

So here are a couple of cards I made, hopefully inspire you to have a go yourself!
What do you think?.......................................

So if you would like to have a go yourself here is a quick tutorial for you.
1. Cut six card panels (3 white/3 black) 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" and round off each of the corner. Paint the 3 white panels with white GeeSoo good, and the black panels with black GeeSoo good. I wanted to give the panels a matte look.

2. Once the panels are dry, stamp the images using White GeeSoo Good onto the black panels and Black Versafine Ink on the white panels.
(when using Gee-Soo good to stamp with, spread some onto a piece of phat foam until it has been worked into the foam and use it like an inkpad).

3. To add detail to the now dry images I used Black and White Enamel Effects and some white and black thin ribbon on 2 of the panels. I also stamped out a white and black butterfly for a little 3D effect on the lilac.

4.The white panels were then mounted onto black card and the black panels onto white card. They were then mounted onto a white card blank.

And there you have it, two Monochrome cards. I will add a sentiment when I need a card in a hurry. Its always a good idea to have a few cards spare just in case!

Thanks for checking in today. Catch up with you again soon. xx

IndigoBlu June Challenge Reminder - Brown & Teal

 Hello there and welcome.
Today I have a reminder piece to inspire you to get your IndigoBlu stamps out and join our challenge this month using the colours Brown and Teal which gives you so many options no matter which stamp set you choose to use.
And don't forget that if you win this challenge you get to choose which stamp set you would like, plus you get to be a guest DT member and design a Inspiration piece for the next challenge.
If you are picked as a Top 3 winner you get to create an Inspiration piece for the next challenge as well. How cool is that!
This time round I decided to make something for the Men. Although I created this one in a small wooden frame it could so easily be made into a card instead.

This is what the back of the frame looks like. I used a piece paper from Belle Epoque

One of the crafting techniques I enjoy doing at the moment is to use embossing paste to give some texture but I know a few people that don't have any so I used a different technique on this piece using a tissue to get some texture.

First things first, if you are using a wooden frame give it a coat of Gee-Soo Good to prime the wood. Whilst that is drying move onto making the background for your project. I cut a square piece of thick white card and slapped on a good coat of Slap-it-on then separated a tissue and placed one layer on top of the slap-it-on

With a paintbrush start to gather up the tissue around the card covering the square. I added a bit more slap-it-on to stop the tissue sticking to the brush. Leave to dry out.

Once the square panel was dry I painted it with Townhouse Teal. I also used the same colour to paint the inside edge of the frame

Once the Townhouse Teal was dry I went over the high spots of the texture with some Hot Coco paint and added a little Kingfisher Blue to add a slight shimmer.

I pulled out some cogs & Gears and painted them up with the same coloured paints used for the backing piece. The frame was covered with Flitter Glu & Chocolate Box Mega Flakes.

Before attaching the gears I stamped a few images from Rugged Edge & Good times

I stamped out the Car image and Text  twice from the stamp set 'Little Voice', added two extra wheels to the car and chopped up the words and re-arranged them on the frame. I also added a lamp post from my stash

Well that's the end of my post today.
I hope it has inspired you to challenge yourself and join in.
Take Care and Happy Stamping xx

My kind of recycling. Altered Glass Bottles!

Hello and Welcome back to my Craft Blog!

So I was doing some recycling the other day and decided to hang on to the empty sherry bottle (Not mine by the way) as it was such a lovely blue colour!

I had a couple of ideas forming in my head and as soon as I had some time to myself I sat down and started to experiment!
Out came my IndigoBlu Paints & Gesso, some Texture Paste & Masks, Kroma Crackle Gel, Micro Beads, old jewellery and so much more...............!

Happy Easter Sunday to you! xx

The Altered Bottle in all its Glory!

So to begin..........Wash the bottle out and remove label if you can!
Paint bottle with GeeSoo-Good (Gesso) to  give the other paints a Key to adhere to!
I chose to use black to give the base a darker look!

Start adding texture to the bottle, I used some Dreamweaver embossing paste,
through a mask to give the bottle a pattern and add texture!

I then added White GeeSoo paint to cover up most of the black!

I then mixed up  some Kroma Crackle and  Acrylic Paint. ( Grandmas Teacup colour).
(I did this as Kroma Crackle dries white)
I added this to certain parts of the bottle in a thick layer to make sure it came out in large cracked areas and a thinner layer in other areas!

This is what happens to the thick layer of Kroma Crackle & Paint!

I then used the pearl paints, Sleeping Beauty and Snow white to paint all over the bottle, then went back over and blended the two colours together to get different colour effects!
I then added some chipboard pieces I cut out using my Sizzix Die, and painted with Sleeping Beauty! I then added some Cream coloured Roses from my stash and gave them the Snow White treatment and added a dusting of Blue Mica Powder!

Close up of Paint, Paste and Crackle effects

Now the fun part. Adding old jewellery and some painted metal embellishments.
The embellishments were cut to size and painted with white GeeSoo Good!
I find Crystal effects works brilliantly to stick down all sorts of hard materials!

I covered the top of the bottle with Lace and found a small silver Bezel, filled it with Crystal effects, placed a small resin flower in the middle and filled up the remaining space with tiny white sequins .

In some of the empty spaces,I added more crystal effects and Tiny Glass Beads. I also added the glass beads to the top of the bottle neck and the bottom rim of the bottle! Once dry I painted over them with the Snow White paint!
Top of the Bottle

To finish off the bottle I added flat backed pearls and dusted over the bottle with Mica powders in white and blue to add a bit of shimmer!

Thank you for stopping by and taking a look today! Hope you stop by again! xx
