First Dirty Pour / Flip Cup using the New IndigoBlu Alchemy Kit and Paint Colours

Hello there, today I have a quick and easy blog post to share with you, especially those of you who have just received your kit and haven't done anything like this before. 

Here I will be giving you a quick run through of the basics of using the New Acrylic Pouring Alchemy Set.

 This is what you will get in the box the kit arrives in, plus an instruction sheet and pairs of gloves.

Also a couple of extra things to remember. This can be a messy craft, so cover your work area and have a cloth or kitchen paper at the ready to clean your hands off.

The bottle of Cell-U-Like is like a little bottle of magic. This is what will create those wonderful Cells. 

 Within the kit you get coasters which will need to give a coat of Gee-Soo-Good before you do any pouring, so that you seal the surface. Some different size canvases and three bottles of the lush new paint colours.

 Grab yourself some of the shot glasses from the kit and add 1tsp of paint per glass

 Give the bottle of Go-Flow a good shake then add 2tsp of it to the shot glass for each colour you use

Give the paint and Go-Flow a good stir together with the lolly sticks. As Kay suggested I snapped mine in half.

 Add water to the mixture if needed. (If you mix the paint in advance, you may find the paint has thickened up when you go to use them and that's fine, just add some more water from the dropper until you have the right consistency 

Mix until you have consistency of Single Cream. The paint should flow off the stick

 For this pour I mixed up some white using the same amounts of paint and Go-Flow as above

 Take out a foil tray and put 4 glasses inside, then place your canvas on top of the glasses

 I used another shot glass to layer my paint colours into,(so you can see the layers of colour) but you can use the larger paper cup that comes in the kit.

Gloves at the ready and at this stage I added 3 drops of Cell-U-Like to the yellow paint

 I poured my paint into the shot glass in layers along with some white

 I then flipped the shot glass onto the middle of the board and left it a few minutes and voila, a beautiful puddle of lushness.(I left the glass on the side of the canvas to get every last drop of paint out!

 I then grabbed my blow torch to see if I would get some extra cells and also to pop any little bubbles. If you don't have a blow torch, and I know a lot of people don't, it doesn't really matter. ( I find that the burst of hot heat works really well and that's why I use one)

A hot craft gun will work as well, but don't use anything to powerful as it will blow the paint right off your canvas or just leave a thin layer of paint.

Then tip and tilt the canvas until the canvas is covered. Then leave to dry, making sure your pour on a flat surface! (See the pubbles of paint under the canvas, leave these to dry out and you can use the 'Paint Skin' in other projects. Thats another blog post!

 Here are a couple of close ups of the canvas once tilted

 Now once your canvas is dry, around 24 hours for the small canvas, you may find that it has darkened and that pattern may have changed slightly but that's normal. Once completely dry, you can give the canvas a couple of coats of varnish to bring the colours back to life. (Think of what happens to sea shells when they are wet. You get the beautiful colours but when they have dried out the colour has dulled. Put then in water again and the colours pops back)! Thought that might help you understand why it happens to your pour, or maybe not!

 I decided to add some embossing to this pour so I mixed up some Black Gee-Soo-Good with SuperThick Slap-it-on

 I decided to add the word Cherish as well and once dry gave the whole canvas another coat of varnish

IndigoBlu Inspiration Piece for the September Challenge - Autumn Wildlife

Hello to you. September is now well and truly here but the weather is doing some strange things here in the UK. As I am sat here writing this we are having a mini heatwave. Not sure how long it will last though.

Its that time for the New Challenge over at IndigoBlu, why not check it out and enter one of your creations. Check it out here!

Well I really wasn't sure what I would create for you this time round, so I turned to Pinterest for some inspiration and found a card, which was made for Halloween with a 3D pumpkin on it and that triggered an idea in my head, so thank you Marlene.

To start this canvas off I did a background wash using Gold and Bronze Luscious Powders mixed with water and whilst that was drying I used a brick die to cut out parts on a piece of Kraft card stock then used a couple of the images from the "Hocus Pocus" stamp set.

I added a layer of painted cardboard and Burlap.

 The main image from the stamp set was stamped and coloured in with inks and paint.

I painted a white piece of card with Burning Bonfire English cottage paint and went over it with one of the New Stencils, "Damaged Dots" and Pheasant Bronze (Metallic). Dies were used to cut out five circles to make the 3D Pumpkin. 

Green card was cut and curled to make the top part of the pumpkin.

Spiders from the stamp set were stamped onto acetate.

Embossing paste was mixed with some Gold Luscious and put through the Diamond and Laurel stencil layered over the Kraft card.

Embossing paste was used again, mixed with Hunter Green paint and used straight onto the canvas and also onto white card with the Laurel leaves stencil. Once the leaves on the card was dry I fussy cut them out and painted over the top of them with Gold Luscious powder mixed with water.

To finish off this piece I added a sentiment from the same stamp set, silver thread, wooden toppers, burlap flowers, die cut leaves from the remaining painted card and gems.

Love beyond words

Hello there and Welcome.

Today I would like to share with you a card I made yesterday using a couple of new items I recently purchased from IndigoBlu

They have a lot of new masks and I have fallen in love with the Roses stencil and thats why I ended up making a romantic / wedding card.

I decided to use acetate as a card base and used Mega Flakes to add a boarder to the front using a boarded stamp from the 'Live, Laugh, Love' stamp set.
The Roses stencil was used with some Cinderella Paint then once this was dry I went back over the top with the stencil and went over some of the petals with a little brown paint mixed with the pink. The same technique was used on another 3 pieces of card which I then die cut.
The top picture was from the Lost family  mix media pad and I coloured some embossing paste with the Cinderella paint and added some roses with the stencil.

Once the paste was dry I painted over the picture with a wash of Snow White
 paint to give a lovely shimmer.
I made some roses using a  mold and paper clay and once they were dry used the same coloured paints as I did on the card.

I embossed a sentiment from the stamp set 'Live, Laugh, Love' in gold, added a piece of cream ribbon and a steampunk heart which I painted. I then added a few dots of liquid pearls to finish off the front.

Multimedia Picture- I was sure you could not be so Beautiful.

Good Morning all, beautiful day here in Gloucestershire!

My youngest daughter is off enjoying her 21st Birthday surprise weekend away and as the IndigoBlu Stamp Dianne reminds me so much of her I thought I would show you a Multimedia piece I have been working on!

I had an idea in mind as to what I was going to do around the stamped image of 'Dianne' and the more I progressed, I added a few more techniques. Let me show you what I did!

To start off with, I choose a 12"x12" Paper from one of the New Mixed Media Papers Vintage from IndigoBlu and the Rugged Edge stamp set. This set has 4 stamps and I used long 'splat' stamp with white embossing powders to create a little texture along the sides of the paper then used the 'stitches' stamp with pumice stone distress ink to add a little more depth to the paper! (you may have noticed I don't have a long enough stamping block for this set, but my Sizzix cutting plate worked wonderfully well)!

                                 

The next step was to use more texture on the paper so I brought in some texture paste and a Flourishes Stencil which I added to 2 of the corners along with a dots stencils randomly added across the page! Once the paste was dry I then added some paint drips watering down some of the Goldfinger and Aladdin metallic paints. I then went in with a couple more paints and the honeycomb stamp from the rugged stamp to add a bit more detail!

         

I stamped the 'Dianne' image onto white card with StaZon ink then painted the hair with Goldfinger paint and added brown highlights with a brown marker! Before sticking the image down I added a doily and strips of  thin jute ribbon underneath the image. The doily was a bit too white so I rubbed a little Aladdin paint over it!

I had some plain white, petals in my stash in a couple of different sizes so out came the paints to bring them to life! Some homemade embellishments were made using SU simply pressed clay then added to the center of the petals. Peppermint Tea, and Goldfinger paint were used to colour them! (using the clay I also made a couple of flourishes, a bow and a small boarder for and painted them once dry with Aladdin paint and used the Goldfinger paint to highlight them). 

                                    

I went on to add a few more paint splashes, Bakers Twine and flat backed pearls.  

To finish off this piece off  I stamped out a sentiment from 'Mr Darcy' several times and punched out each line and added the punched pieces to the picture.

This was lots of fun to make and I learnt quite a few things along the way!
